I've got this desk (check it out here: [Desk Image](https://imgur.com/a/desk-dSJtNaM)) but I've run into a snag. The drawers and a small lip underneath are blocking me from using traditional clamps for monitor arms. The lip is too short for a clamp, and unfortunately, wall mounting isn't an option either. I really want to maximize my workspace with monitor arms, but I feel kind of stuck. I've thought about drilling a grommet hole or maybe adding a block of wood for a clamp, but I've never done anything like that before. What's the best or easiest solution to mount monitor arms on a desk like this?

You might want to look for a dual monitor mount that has a freestanding base instead of one that clamps down. That way, you can position it right on the desk without needing to clamp it onto the lip or drawers. It's a neat way to save space, and it won't risk damaging your desk.
Drilling a grommet hole is a solid idea if you're comfortable with it! Just make sure the drawers don't go all the way back if you do. If the gap is enough, you could also use a two-piece mount that clings to the underside of your desk. If you want to avoid drilling, consider using a sturdy piece of wood to fill the space that the clamp can't grip. Just make sure it's secure and the weight is well-distributed!
Have you thought about using threaded inserts? You can bolt a mount directly to the top of the desk which will be much sturdier than just screws. You'll need to drill holes, so it’s a bit of a permanent solution. Make sure to use bolts with washers for extra support, especially if your desk isn't solid wood. That way, you won’t have to worry about it falling over time!

That sounds like a good plan! I'll definitely look into threaded inserts. Thanks for the tip!
