Hey everyone! We recently bought a house that has two hose spigots in the front yard, but none in the back, which is really inconvenient. I'm wondering if there's a way to "move" one of the front spigots to the back. I'd like to leave the spigot always on during the warm months but still have a way to control it from the back. Since the house is brick, I assume running new plumbing is going to be difficult and pricey. The distance isn't too far, just about 5-8 feet from the front to the backyard. Any suggestions on how I could approach this?

It’s really annoying when homes are built that way! My workaround has been to use hose faucet extenders with an electronic timer. It isn’t ideal but it lets me control the water flow with my phone. I set up a splitter at the front so I can run hoses to different parts of my yard without breaking the bank.
From what I know, if you’re feeling handy, you could mount PVC piping along your wall and add a new spigot at the back. Just glue a few pieces of pipe together and drill into the brick or siding. That way, you keep it low effort while also getting a new water source in your backyard.
Yeah, I did something similar for my backyard deck. Super easy!
A simple solution would be to get a heavy-duty hose that’s long enough to run from your front spigot to the back. You can attach it to your existing spigot and then put a valve at the back where you need it. Just remember to turn off the water source if you’re leaving for a while! This is a really low-effort approach, and if you're comfortable with some DIY, you could even look into using PVC piping and making it more permanent.
I do that every spring! I just roll it back up in the fall when I don’t need it.
That’s a pretty straightforward idea! I always wondered about using a hose long-term because I had a bad experience with a bursting hose once. But if others are doing it, I guess it’s doable!

Or why not just run a hose around the house and add a valve to control it?
