I really want to plant my morning glories in the ground, but I'm worried about how invasive they can be since I've heard they can choke out other plants. I started them in a greenhouse tray, and now the roots are coming out the bottom and they're getting too tall to fit! I'm definitely taking them out, but what's the best way to plant them in the ground while preventing them from going wild? I want to avoid having them spread too much, aside from removing the seed pods.

Last year, I planted some morning glories straight in the ground, and they were gorgeous! I didn't realize how quickly they would spread, so I ended up pulling them after the flowers slowed down. Luckily, there were no seed pods, and this year I haven’t seen any new sprouts. Just be cautious because there are look-alikes, like bindweed, that can root really deeply and cause a lot of issues!
I’ve had morning glories in my front yard, and I can confirm they can be a real hassle! I regularly trim them back to keep them from taking over other plants. I've even caught them climbing on my rose bush. Sometimes, I find sprouts popping up as far as 30 feet away! Treating them like weeds and pulling out the unwanted ones helps keep them manageable.
30 feet away? Wow, that sounds intense! I guess I’ll have to be diligent about trimming them back too. Do you use a trellis or anything to help manage their growth?
