How Can I Plant Native Wildflowers Without Them Getting Out of Control?

Hey everyone! I'm diving into the world of native plants and I'm particularly keen on adding some shorter native wildflowers to my property to increase diversity beyond just grass. However, I've previously received a warning from my city about overgrown areas, which led to fines. I want to allow the wildflowers some freedom to grow, but I also need to find a balance so that things don't get too messy. Any advice on how to integrate these plants without becoming unruly? Also, if this isn't the right place for such a question, I'd appreciate recommendation for a better forum!

You should check if your city's grass codes apply to non-grass plants. Most places allow for bushes and trees without issue. Once you know what's allowed, you'll be able to plan better! Also, I recommend checking out the subreddit r/NativePlantGardening for more insights on this topic.

You might want to search for 'lawn alternative seed mix' online for some great options. For instance, I found this one [here](https://www.westcoastseeds.com/products/alternative-lawn-wildflower-mix) that’s perfect for local climates. There are plenty of seeds out there to help you set up a beautiful native landscape without it becoming a jungle!
