How Can I Prevent My Dryer Hose from Kinking?

Asked By FunkyMonkey77 On

I'm having an issue with my dryer being positioned too close to the exhaust hole, causing the flexible hose to kink and sometimes slip out. I feel like this kink is impacting how effectively my clothes are drying. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can fix this problem? Here's a picture for reference: https://imgur.com/a/clNiobm

You could look into a rectangular telescoping dryer vent. Places like Lowe's and Home Depot offer different lengths for around $25. It’s designed for spaces close to the wall, which might work better for your situation.

Great suggestion! I’ll definitely check that out—was just heading to Lowe's anyway.

You might want to check out Magvent systems! I installed one when I remodeled my laundry room, and they've worked great for me. I'd recommend putting one in every house I own if I could.

Thanks for the tip! That looks like exactly what I need. I’ll definitely order one if I can’t find it in a store.

Magvents are awesome but can be a bit pricey. If you’re looking for a cheaper fix, try using a 90-degree elbow for your dryer vent. This way, the vent hose will have a straight path without kinks. Make sure to secure everything with clamps and use heat-rated foil tape to keep it airtight. Just avoid using nails or screws since those can catch lint!

That sounds like a solid idea! I’m just worried about whether an elbow will fit in my setup since it’s pretty tight, and moving the dryer isn’t really an option.
