How Can I Prevent Slipping on Carpeted Stairs?

Both my wife and I have had some close calls slipping down our carpeted stairs while wearing socks. Does anyone have any good recommendations for products or solutions to make our stairs safer?

Just a thought—if you find yourself slipping often, it might be user error. Carpet is designed to be less slippery, especially compared to hardwood. Have you thought about going barefoot or using a handrail? That might help as well!

Good point! I never slip on my stairs and I don't have carpet. The railing definitely makes a difference.

I've had carpeted stairs for over a decade without slipping. I think it's mostly about being cautious—go slowly and make sure to use the handrails!

Totally agree! Using the handrails makes a big difference.

Consider trying some non-slip stair treads. They might look a bit funky, but safety is key! Also, wearing shoes with good grip can help, especially if you're prone to slipping in socks.

Yeah, I switched to wearing grippy slippers at home, and it totally eliminated my slipping!
