I'm dealing with a frustrating issue regarding my bathroom exhaust fan in the basement. After a storm, I noticed a significant leak where water seems to be entering through the exterior vent, then making its way down the duct and pooling in the fan. I tried replacing the exterior vent, which did help a bit, and I also secured the duct to the subfloor above with a J hook to direct the flow toward the outside. However, I still found some water in the duct after another storm last night. I'm looking for solutions to completely stop this water intrusion—any advice?

Since you mentioned it’s a bathroom fan, replacing the duct might make a difference. Keeping it properly insulated can help with condensation, especially if you're in an area with high humidity during storms.
What type of exhaust fan do you have? Is it for the bathroom, kitchen, or attic? Just a thought, but sometimes the issue might not be direct rainwater, but rather condensation from humidity caused by the rain. Using insulated ducts could potentially help with that.
