How Can I Protect My Flowers from Dog Urine?

Asked By Gard3nL0verX On

I have a charming white picket fence along the sidewalk where I want to grow some vining flowers. The issue is that I can't avoid all the dog pee from passersby, and I really don't want to be mean to the dogs. I'm looking for ways to protect my plants from this without causing any trouble. Any tips?

I've found that rinsing the plants off daily can help, but it’s not a foolproof solution. If you plant them close to the fence, is there a way to stake them up a foot or so to get them above dog height? That might reduce the damage from the pee!

That's actually what I was hoping to do! Staking them up a bit sounds like a good plan, but daily rinsing might be tough for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rinsing anyway; it sounds like a lot of work!
