How Can I Protect My School Garden from Deer?

I'm dealing with a significant deer problem in my school garden each year. I've tried a 7-foot high fence with deer netting, but the deer easily get past that. Last season, I set up a 3D fence with a 7-foot interior fence and a 4-foot exterior fence placed about 3-4 feet apart, and unfortunately, I still had a lot of deer trouble. I'm located in south east Pennsylvania, and I'm considering building raised beds with integrated fences. Does anyone have a design for this, or any other suggestions? I have a budget of around $2,000.

What if you add a loud, motion-activated sprinkler? It could water the garden while also scaring the deer away when they approach. Just set it to run during non-school hours, so you don’t get any surprises!

Have you thought about using electric fencing? I know it sounds intense, but it’s been very effective for some folks. There’s a setup that works great for us, and it really keeps the deer away! Just make sure to check with your school admin first, since I can imagine there might be some restrictions.

Yeah, I mentioned it to the school admin and they said it's not allowed.
