How Can I Remove a Water Stain from My Ceiling After a Shower Leak?

I had a shower leak from the floor above, and now there's this annoying water stain on the ceiling below. I'm looking for advice on how to get rid of it effectively. I've heard about using bleach, but the ceiling paint is pretty old and has yellowed over time. What's the best way to tackle this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've had great success with Zinsser BIN. It completely covered the stains with just one coat, while Kilz took me four coats to barely manage it. After that, just repaint the ceiling, and you'll be good to go!

That’s awesome to hear! I’ll have to try Zinsser BIN instead of Kilz then. Sounds like way less work!

If you're dealing with a stain, try using Zinsser Coverstain or something similar. It's great for hiding those pesky water spots. I prefer the spray for smaller areas because it’s easier to manage. Just make sure to repaint afterwards for a uniform look!

Honestly, the best bet is to just repaint the entire ceiling. A fresh coat will make it look new again! It can be a hassle, but it’ll be worth it in the end.
