I have a home with painted brick, and the white paint is peeling off badly, making it look unappealing. I'm looking to hire someone to strip the paint off properly. Is a regular house painter the right choice for this job?

Removing paint can sometimes end up damaging the brick, especially if it’s fragile. If your bricks are in good shape, though, there are options. Just keep in mind it’s tricky to get it looking like new without using some harsh methods that might harm the surface.
You probably want to steer clear of a regular painter for this. They usually just put on new paint rather than dealing with the old stuff. Instead, look for masonry restoration specialists or concrete and brick contractors. They have the right tools and chemicals to remove the paint without damaging the brick. It might cost a bit more, but it's worth it to avoid the hassle of dealing with peeling paint in the future.
We plan to sell soon, and since we live in a military town, having peeling paint isn’t an option. I really want to get this done right.
A pressure washer could work for this, depending on how tough the paint is. Just be careful, as it can also cause damage if used too aggressively.

The bricks aren’t crumbling; we’re below the frost line, so I think they’re solid. But thanks for the heads up!
