How Can I Remove Wood Glue from Bare Wood Without Sanding?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of redoing the tolex on my amp head. My first attempt wasn't perfect, but I learned a ton. So, I decided to peel off the covering and give it another shot. I've already sanded it a lot during the first round, and honestly, I'm not keen on doing more sanding now. Is there a product or tool that can help remove wood glue from unfinished wood? Since I'm covering it with tolex, I'm not too worried about discoloration as long as it doesn't affect any glued joints or warp the wood. I'd appreciate any tips! Just to clarify, the glue has been dried for days.

Using a coarser sandpaper can help, or you could try a plane or chisel. A cabinet scraper might work too, and if you're really careful, you might even use a router.

I'll be grabbing 50 grit I guess. Thank you.

To avoid a mess in the future, it’s best to remove excess glue with water before it dries. For what you're doing now, with dried glue, you're probably looking at sand or scrape methods at this point.

I was indeed way past that point since it dried days ago.

If you're going to cover it, why worry about glue stains? Unfortunately, once the glue has dried, there's not really a product to strip it. Your best bets are to sand or scrape it off.

I'm not worried about stains; my goal is a smooth surface for my second try, so I just want the glue off. Thanks for the confirmation, though!
