How Can I Repair a Small Scuff Mark on My Wall?

I'm pretty new to home improvement and recently tried cleaning a scuff mark off my wall with a wet towel. Unfortunately, it ended up removing some paint and I think I can see some exposed wood underneath. What steps should I take to fix this? How can I match the paint color to cover up the damage?

It seems like the issue might be caused by lower quality paint not properly applied. You should start looking for paint swatches and tape them on the wall at different times of the day to see how they look. If you choose a bold color, consider making it an accent wall and keeping the other walls a neutral shade. Just remember to take your time with the prep work!

To fix the scuff, take a small chip of the paint to your local hardware store for color matching. The repair process usually involves sanding down the area, applying a primer, and then painting over it. YouTube has plenty of great DIY videos that can guide you through it. You've got this!

It sounds like the paint wasn’t applied well in the first place since a wet towel exposed the wood. For a small area, you can just get some matching paint and do a touch-up. But if the affected area is larger, like a foot square, it might be better to repaint the whole section. Bring a paint chip to a local store, and they can help you find a match.
