How Can I Replace My Bathroom Vanity Without Breaking the Bank?

I'm dealing with a cramped bathroom and my vanity is just too wide for the space. I'm hoping to replace it with a shorter one, but I have no clue about hiring the right contractor or if I could just do it myself. The work involved would include removing the existing vanity, possibly adjusting plumbing, repairing the wall, installing a new vanity, and setting up the sink and faucet. Any advice would be super helpful!

It really depends on what your current setup looks like and what you want to achieve. If the plumbing isn’t a hassle, you might just need to turn off the water, disconnect everything, and swap out the vanity. If it's glued to the wall or runs to the floor, you might have to deal with some wall repairs or new flooring. A general contractor can handle this, but it's a pretty penny. You could also consider hiring a handyman or plumber for a more affordable option. Just be cautious with plumbing and tiling if you go the DIY route!

This is super helpful, thanks! It sounds like my current vanity doesn't go all the way to the floor, so that’s a relief. I’m still nervous about what I might find behind it.

This is definitely in handyman territory! If you're feeling ambitious, you can DIY it too—just check out some YouTube videos for guidance. And if you post pictures of your vanity here, people can give you tailored advice on what you'll need to do next.

Thanks! I’d love to share pictures. Is there an existing thread I can use for that?
