I inherited a Hens & Chicks plant from my dad, and it's looking pretty rough. I noticed that some of the blooms have these burnt, cigar-like husks. Should I just prune those off? Even the healthy green parts are showing signs of distress with burnt undersides, especially at the back. I'm worried it might've gotten too much sun. Should I move it to a spot with indirect sunlight instead? I don't want to disturb the soil if it's not necessary. Thanks for any help you can provide! It sounds like your Hens & Chicks are a bit stressed! Those burnt parts should definitely be pruned off; this will help the plant focus on healthier growth. As for sunlight, while they usually thrive in direct sun, if they’re showing signs of burn, moving them to indirect light for a bit could help them recover. Just keep an eye on them! And yes, definitely refer to the pic—it helps a lot!
No worries about the pic, we all forget sometimes! It’s crucial for diagnosing plant issues. Hens & Chicks generally prefer full sunlight but if you see burn marks, you might want to reduce exposure temporarily. Pruning those dead blooms will also encourage new growth. Just monitor how it responds after adjusting the light.
