I'm moving from Canada to Italy and I'm really attached to my houseplants, especially my Alocasia Frydek Variegata and Monstera Thai. Is there any way I can bring these plants, along with some propagations or bulbs, without running into legal issues? What do I need to know about transporting them internationally?

It's tough to bring plants across borders these days. There are a ton of rules that you need to follow, such as getting the correct certifications and sometimes even putting your plants in quarantine! Not to mention, they have customs checks where dogs sniff out illegal plant imports. I'm actually moving overseas next year too and I’m just giving up my collection to avoid the hassle. It’s a tough decision, I know!
I hear you! It’s heart-wrenching to let go of them. But what do you think about trying to sneak in a bulb? Is it worth the risk? If caught, what could happen?
