I'm looking for some advice on how to change the light fixture located above my stairs. The fixture is positioned about 15 feet high, with a 10-foot ceiling halfway down the stairs. I'm wondering if I should rent a specialized ladder for this or if I can manage with something simpler. There's a railing on the floor above the stairs that I could use for stability by placing the ladder against it and leaning it across to the opposite wall. However, I'm cautious about this as a fall down the stairs would be risky, and I'm not sure about the railing's strength. Any recommendations?

If you're unsure about ladder safety, it's probably best to hire a pro. Get someone licensed and bonded, and maybe ask if you can watch them work to learn a bit while they do it. It’ll make you feel better next time!
