I've got this adorable little chipmunk making a home around my place, and I'm wondering about the potential damage he could be causing to my concrete walkway. It connects my raised wooden porch, runs around the garage, and leads to my driveway. While he isn't causing any trouble at the moment, I'm worried that if he digs too much underneath, it might mess with the grade or even create cracks. I really want to find a humane way to relocate him if necessary, maybe to a nearby wooded area since I have plenty of that around. However, I'd prefer he stays nearby, just not under my concrete!

I've got chipmunks too, mostly around my gardens and sidewalks. Honestly, I'm not worried about them causing damage. If I had to move them, I'd probably just set a Bluetooth speaker or a solar motion light near their tunnels to make it uncomfortable for them to stick around. Just a heads-up: relocating wildlife can be risky for them since they are territorial and often struggle to survive in a new area.
Chipmunks are super cute! Personally, I just let mine be; they dig a little, but I've never seen them cause real structural damage. A neighbor of mine swears that placing shavings of Irish Spring soap can keep them away from areas you want to protect, so that could be worth a shot!
From what I’ve seen, chipmunks don’t dig big enough holes to hurt concrete slabs. We feed ours sunflower seeds and give them water, and they seem fine. Just remember, if you do decide to relocate them, it might not be the best idea since they can have a hard time adjusting in new places.
