How can I safely find and remove a wasp nest without getting stung?

I've never had issues with wasps before, but this summer has been brutal! I've been stung six times, and it always seems to happen while I'm hanging up laundry. I don't even see them coming; they're quiet, and I don't feel them brushing against me, but when they sting, it really hurts! I'm trying to figure out how to locate their nest and what to do once I find it. I'm quite nervous about going into the garden, especially with kids and dogs around, but I need to handle this situation. I live in rural France and have noticed both paper wasps and other types in my garden. Help me out, please!

It sounds like the nest is probably close to where you hang your washing, maybe even in the ground. Wasps can get pretty territorial. I've got some in my shed, but I just talk or sing to them while I'm around, and they usually don't bother me. Once, I forgot and they swarmed me, but when I said, 'It’s me! I’m sorry!' they settled down. Still, be cautious!

Haha, I think flapping my arms while hanging laundry is what annoys them too! I got stung once while trying to run away, what a cheeky move! Finding the nest with them around seems tricky since they get riled up.
