I'm trying to set up my Google Home speaker in the kitchen, but I found an exposed wire on top of my extractor. I'm considering using that wire to power the speaker, and I want it to be always on. Should I cut the live wire (the brown one) and connect both ends, or can I just connect brown to brown and blue to blue? I'm aware that the wires lead into the extractor, which controls lights and fans. What's the safest way to go about this?

Hey, I think it’s best not to mess with live wires. Sounds risky, and I doubt it's safe for someone without electrical experience. You should really consider hiring an electrician who can do this properly. Safety first!
It's definitely concerning to hear you're looking to draw power like that! You need both a hot and a neutral wire for it to work, and it might not comply with electrical codes. Have you thought about just putting in a proper outlet instead?
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend what you’re planning. You absolutely cannot just use one wire to power your speaker. Codes exist for a reason, and it's usually to prevent dangerous situations. Definitely consult a professional and let them handle it.
