How Can I Safely Remove Bramble Without Hurting My Rose Bush?

I've got this pesky bramble growing at the bottom of my wall, and it's right next to my rose bush. I've pulled the bramble before, but it keeps coming back. I'm looking for a way to kill it without harming my rose bush. Does anyone have tips or advice on how to do this effectively?

A good method is to paint glyphosate right onto the bramble leaves. Mixing it with an adjuvant can help it stick better. Just be careful not to let any touch the rose bush. If you're super cautious, you might want to set up a small barrier between them. After a few hours, there's practically no chance of it affecting the rose!

I tackled a similar situation by cutting the thick bramble stems and then applying weed killer directly to the cut ends with a brush. It worked wonders and didn't affect my surrounding plants at all! Just make sure to use caution around the rose bush.

If you can, dig up as much of the bramble as possible. Just keep in mind that brambles and roses are in the same family, so whatever you use on one could affect the other. But you're right about watering the rose; it also waters the bramble since they share the same roots.
