Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind. I've got a substantial buddleia that's pushed its way into my party wall and loosened the bricks and mortar. The tricky part is that it's growing in my neighbor's garden, right up against our shared wall. On my side, just a couple of feet away, there's a beautiful cherry blossom tree that I absolutely love. I'm looking for advice on how to manage the buddleia so it doesn't cause any more damage. If my neighbor agrees to remove it completely, will using root killer on the buddleia stump pose a risk to my cherry tree? Appreciate any insights!

You can tackle that buddleia by cutting it down as low as you can and drilling some holes into the exposed stump. After that, fill those holes with Roundup Tree Stump Killer and cover it with a plastic bag to contain the chemicals. This method is pretty effective in killing the buddleia because it targets the roots directly! Just make sure to keep an eye on your cherry tree; it should be safe, but it’s best to monitor it just in case any roots are sharing territory.

Thanks for your advice! I just want to be careful, you know? Do you think the nearby roots could connect and affect the cherry tree at all?
