I've been dealing with hornworms in my garden, and while I don't have a huge problem, they really freak me out. My partner tried to remove one and accidentally tore it in half, which was super gross. I don't usually mind bugs, but these guys really give me the heebie-jeebies! Their appearance and the way they feel just make me uneasy. Plus, their poop looks like mini corn cobs. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of these pesky worms without too much fuss?

If you're not a fan of touching them, I recommend using some thick gloves or pliers. Just makes it easier to handle them without getting freaked out. You definitely wouldn't want to tear them in half again!
I usually hold a paper cup under them while using some old kitchen shears to cut them off. They just fall right in, and then I toss the cup away. It might sound a bit weird, but it saves me from dealing with any goo!
One trick I've found is to cut off the leaf or branch where they're hanging out, as long as there aren't any fruits on it. Then I toss them far enough into the field so birds, geckos, and other critters can have a feast! It's a bit less hands-on and helps you avoid any gross-out moments.
