Hey folks! I hope I'm posting in the right place. I just got an old TV from my friends who are upgrading to a new one, and I'm considering repurposing it as a digital gameboard or map for our Dungeons & Dragons sessions. The TV has quite a bit of bezel, and I'm wondering if there's a way to remove the LCD screen from its housing to reduce its size. Is this process complicated? Should I just live with the bezels and look for a newer model? Any advice would be great, thanks! ?

Also, if you're thinking about reducing bezel size, remember that modern TVs have shrunk those bezels significantly. Maybe consider finding a vintage picture frame to give it a nice DnD vibe instead of tearing apart the old TV.
One important tip is to support the LCD well, maybe with some plywood, to prevent cracks. They’re usually oriented in boxes upright for a reason—laying them flat without support can cause damage. Flexibility is a killer for these screens!
Removing the LCD screen from its housing is usually doable, but knowing the make and model of the TV helps. Generally, you can take off the outer shell and lay the screen into a smaller box or frame. Just make sure to mount it using its original attachment points. If you need to access ports, extender cables can help with that. Just be careful with the internals since things can get tricky depending on the design!

Absolutely! Just be gentle with the LCD panel because the connectors can be fragile. If you accidentally damage the screen or the wiring, it could ruin your project.
