Hey everyone, I need some advice about a beam in my roof. I'm planning some construction in a few days and I want to remove it. Can anyone tell me what structural role this beam plays, if any? Is it safe to remove it, and do I need to add extra support afterward? I added a second picture showing a stud that I want to get rid of to keep my living space clear. Thanks for any help! You might want to consult a structural engineer about this. It seems like the beam could be doing a lot of heavy lifting, and removing it could potentially mess things up. The roof's load, including factors like snow or wind, needs to be considered, and I can't really give specific advice without knowing more. Just be careful!
Are you asking about the post that seems to support the ridge beam? Removing that could be risky! I definitely recommend hiring a local engineer to check it out, especially since you're considering altering something structural. Don't underestimate the importance of proper support here!

Gotcha! I just need to clear space up there, so I hope it's not too complicated.
