Hey folks! I'm a newbie on this site and could use some guidance. I have a couple of succulent plants that I want to bring with me on a domestic flight that's about 5-6 hours long. Since my carry-on is already full, they'll have to go in my checked baggage. I've come across mixed advice regarding how to prepare them for the journey. Some people suggest removing the soil and wrapping the roots in damp paper towels, while others recommend drying them out before packing them. I'm under the impression that I can transport them since it's domestic, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. If it doesn't sound feasible, I might just leave them with a friend. Any tips on making this work would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The key is to make sure your succulents are dry before you pack them. Unpot them, wrap the roots securely in tissue paper, and put them in a small, sturdy container. Just keep in mind, there's a chance airport security might look through your bag if they're curious about the plants!
From what I've read, it's best to water your succulents a few days before your flight to ensure they’re healthy. Then, unpot them and wrap the roots in paper towels and some newspaper to keep them secure. Make sure to place them in a padded container that can handle some bumps. That way, they'll be safe during the flight!

That’s good to know! I’ll definitely be cautious about how I pack them.
