I've got this 8-foot banana plant that's been thriving on my deck for about a month. It's my first large plant, and I want to make sure it stays healthy. Recently, a couple of storms knocked it over, and I'm worried it might get hurt or damage my other plants.
It's in a pot without a lip, and I'd prefer not to move it due to its size. I've been brainstorming some solutions, like building a wooden box to stabilize it on the deck, tying it to the railing (but I'm not sure if that's safe), or placing it inside a larger, heavier pot to prevent tipping.
I can share photos of my deck to give a better idea of the setup. Any suggestions would be super helpful!

One idea could be to use ratchet straps to secure the pot directly to the deck. You’d simply strap it over the pot and under the deck slats to keep it steady. Just make sure your deck can handle the wind and won't lift up too easily!
Ratchet straps are a great idea! If you can't access underneath, maybe try securing it to the railing instead, as long as it won’t choke the plant.

Thanks for the tip on the ratchet straps! I’m not sure if I can get under the deck slats without taking things apart, but I’ll check and see!
