How can I set up a trigger to play a football anthem when my buddy’s team scores?

My friend wants to automate playing a football anthem whenever his team scores a goal. He imagines a setup where a button, possibly a remote or a separate switch, could quickly mute the game audio from his TV, then play the anthem for a minute or so. I've never tackled an audio project like this before, but I'm thinking about using a Raspberry Pi or something along those lines. He's looking for budget-friendly solutions, so any creative or DIY ideas would be fantastic. Thanks for your help!

You can create a sound board using a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino-compatible board like an ESP32. These boards allow you to play sounds with a button press. A tricky part is injecting the sound into the HDMI stream; it's pretty difficult due to the fast data transfer rates. Instead, you'll likely need to extract the audio from the TV using the headphone jack, adjust it, and run it through your own sound system. I've used this readymade sound board from Adafruit before, and it has an 'activity' pin to help you control the TV's sound too. Check it out!
