How Can I Set Up My Solar Panels for Optimal Charging?

Hey everyone! I'm setting up a new solar array and ran into some questions. I just purchased 15 x 100W panels rated at 12V, which I plan to wire in series, resulting in around 180V and 1500W. I have two BlueSolar charge controllers—one rated for 75V and the other for 100V. I'm worried about exceeding their voltage and wattage limits. Has anyone else done something similar? Are there any products or setup strategies you recommend? I'm also trying to find out the maximum voltage and wattage specs for these controllers, specifically the 75-10 and 100-20 models. Appreciate any insights!

It sounds like you might be complicating things! Instead of wiring all your panels in series and risking high voltage, why not split them into two circuits? You could have one with 8 panels (around 96V) and another with 7 (around 84V). However, even with this configuration, you might still be over the limit for your 75V controller. I'd strongly recommend upgrading to a 100V charge controller; they're not too pricey. Plus, consider using the Victron MPPT configurator to ensure you're not going over the limits—it's a handy tool!

Exactly! And just so you know, those 12V panels usually output around 18V, so you'll have to account for that. Good luck!
