How Can I Soundproof My Water Pipes?

Asked By User1234 On

I'm dealing with quite a bit of noise from my water pipes, especially when the bathroom is in use. I've heard some plumbers say that there isn't a really effective solution for this. I can clearly hear the sounds from the toilet and sink in the adjoining room, and I'm looking for ways to reduce that noise. Any suggestions on soundproofing options for water pipes?

Using soundproofing insulation, like Rockwool Safe and Sound, can help a lot. I had a similar issue with an upstairs toilet that was really loud, but after wrapping the pipe with the insulation while I was renovating, the noise was significantly reduced—almost silent unless I pressed my ear to the wall. Just make sure you're aware that these types of insulation may not be 100% effective against all sounds, especially if the pipes are anchored to your house’s structure.
