Hey everyone! I've got a Brown Turkey fig tree with loads of green figs, but they seem to be taking ages to ripen. I was curious if removing some leaves to let in more sun and heat would help speed things up. Has anyone tried this technique or have any tips to share?

I’ve been digging through fig-growing info lately, and most growers don’t recommend exposing the figs directly to speed ripening. They usually focus on increasing overall temperature and extending the season for the tree. One 'trick' I learned is sealing the fruit with oil once it's matured, but I’m not sure how well that works. Just give them some time!
I’ve got a Brown Turkey fig too, and I can relate! Mine is in full sun, and the figs are still super slow to ripen. Honestly, it doesn’t seem to make a difference with the leaves blocking the sun. Just patience, I guess!

That’s interesting! I’m hoping removing some leaves will help raise the temperature for the figs—there are a ton of leaves on my established tree!
