I'm looking for advice on how to get my cabinet guy to stain my white oak cabinets. I really love that natural appearance before the clear coat is applied. It's important to me that the stain doesn't turn out pink, orange, or yellow. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

To achieve that natural look you're after, my recommendation would be to go with a water-based polyurethane topcoat. It helps to maintain the natural color of the wood without adding any unwanted tones. Just make sure nothing else is applied before that!
