Hey all, I'm trying to install some curtain rods higher up than my old window frame but I'm dreading it. Last time I attempted this, I got so frustrated that I just gave up and went without curtains for over a year until my dad came to the rescue. I really want to learn how to do this on my own, especially how to accurately find and drill into the wall studs. I've watched some YouTube tutorials, but many are poorly made and don't get to the point. If you have any quick tips or reliable video suggestions, I would truly appreciate it!

You should definitely check out "This Old House" on YouTube; they have some fantastic content! Also, grab some essentials like a stud finder, a level, measuring tape, and wall anchors (like toggle or Molly bolts). Remember, it doesn’t matter if you’re a girl or a guy—just because someone’s a certain gender doesn’t mean they can handle DIY tasks. If your dad’s handy, don’t hesitate to ask for a little guidance, or find someone who can help teach you the ropes!
This is exactly what I needed! I once broke my nose trying to install a big curtain rod, so now I’m super cautious. Right now, I’ve got a patched area in my drywall and can’t anchor into it where I want for my bedroom sliding doors. Anyone tried anchoring at the top of a doorframe? Does it actually work, or is that just a gimmick? Thanks!

Good points! What kind of screws do you think would work best for this?
