I really enjoy having a fox visit my garden, but it's been digging up my young passion fruit tree that's in a large pot. I initially tried to make it easier for the fox by moving another pot nearby so it could climb onto the shed without using the tree. Despite that, it's still digging at the tree, possibly using it as a bathroom spot. I'd prefer if it would use an empty pot of soil instead. Does anyone have any tips to keep it from digging up the tree while still allowing the fox to feel comfortable in my garden?

Another option could be to place some heavy stones around the base of the pot. It’ll make it harder for the fox to dig but won’t keep it away from the garden entirely.
You might want to try using animal repellent powder. I used it for skunks that were digging in my garden, and it seemed to help. Just a heads up though, it does wash away after some time, so it might be a temporary fix that encourages the fox to find another spot to dig.
Have you considered topping the pot with something like pebbles or even chicken wire? It might stop the fox from being able to dig into the soil at all, while still letting it explore around the area.

Thanks for the tip! Just to clarify, is it strong enough to deter him from the garden completely?
