Hi everyone! Every year, I notice baby ducks falling into the drain outside my house, and it's really upsetting. The neighbors like to feed the ducks, but they don't seem to care about the ducklings' safety. I'm trying to think of ways to block off the drain so the little ones can't accidentally fall in. I thought about covering it somehow, but there are cars that pass through, so that's tricky. Duct tape seems unreliable too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to look into what they use at construction sites to keep debris out of the drains. It could be effective in your case too! Just make sure it's safe for the little guys.
Have you thought about laying down some chicken wire over the drain? You could curve it up and over the curb if it’s a street drain. It should be easy to secure it to the grates, and it would catch the ducklings while still letting water flow through.
If it helps, a grate that is slightly smaller than the baby ducks could be another option. It would keep them out but still allow water to run off.
