How Can I Stop Leaving the Closet Light On?

Asked By CuriousCat83 On

I'm looking for a solution to prevent my closet light from staying on every time I leave the room. My wife is really getting annoyed with me! Can anyone suggest a product that can automatically turn on the light when I open the door and off when I close it? Thanks for your help!

You could also install a door jamb switch! It’s a little on the technical side since you might need to cut some drywall, but it’s a reliable way to have the light turn on when the door opens and off when it closes. Just stick the sensor on the door frame, and you’ll be golden!

That sounds like a solid plan! But is it complicated to install? I’m not super handy.

If you’re looking for something simple, you could just go for a motion-detecting light bulb. They’re designed to turn on when they sense movement and turn off after a bit of inactivity. I have one in my pantry, and it works like a charm! Just check compatibility with your light fixture.

You might want to consider a motion sensor switch. They’re super easy to install and can take the place of your existing switch, making it work automatically based on movement. Just make sure you have a neutral wire in the box to use one. There are a ton of options available online too!

That sounds great! Do you have any specific brands or products you’d recommend?
