How Can I Tell if a Wall is Load Bearing?

I'm looking to make some changes in my kitchen, but there's this wall/pantry/bookshelf that's making me nervous about potential costs if it's load bearing. I don't have the blueprints. Can anyone guide me on how to determine if it's safe to remove? Here's a picture for reference: https://imgur.com/a/01Xf7Y6

If you don't have the blueprints, a good starting point is to check your attic. It might give you clues about the structure above. If you're still convinced you're in over your head, hiring a structural engineer or a qualified contractor is definitely the way to go.

I remember when I was unsure about a wall my buddy was knocking down. We read that if you see a beam or something like that up top, it often indicates a load-bearing wall. But don’t stress; asking a pro is always the safest bet if you're not familiar with this stuff!
