I'm working with reclaimed wood and I want to make sure it doesn't have any nails in it. What are some methods or tools you guys use to check for nails in reclaimed wood?

Another method is to run the wood through a planer. It’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll find any nails that are hiding in there, and it’ll give you a nice smooth finish too.

If you want a humorous approach, you could always invest in a SawStop table saw! It's funny because it'll definitely let you know if there’s a nail when it’s too late—just kidding, but seriously, they can help avoid damage.

Haha, that’s a good one! I had a laugh at that. But really, just be careful!

A solid way to find nails is by using a metal detector. They’re pretty effective for spotting any hidden metal objects in the wood. Just remember, if the nails are non-magnetic, a magnet won't help, so a metal detector is your best bet!

Any recommendations for a reliable metal detector?
