How Can I Transform My White Laminate Desk to a Wood Finish?

I've got an AMQ Activ Pro standing desk with a black frame and a white laminate surface that I scored at a great price when my office changed up their furniture. Now, I'm looking to give my home office a facelift with some darker wood floating shelves, and I want to make my desk match by either giving it a wood finish or painting it a darker brown color. Can anyone share some tips or recommend materials and instructions for this transformation?

You might want to try using a door skin, which is essentially a sheet of wood veneer. Just glue it down on your desk, trim the edges, and lightly sand them to make them nice to the touch. A coat of polyurethane could give it a nice finish. For the glue, Super 77 is your best bet; it's super reliable! Make sure to cut the veneer a bit larger than what you need and trim it once it's attached, so you have some wiggle room. A rolling pin from the kitchen can help you get the air bubbles out during the gluing process.

Thanks! I could maybe just paint the edges brown to match. My desk surface isn’t perfectly smooth, though; it has some texture. Do you think this method will still work?
