How Can I Use a Scroll Saw Blade Without Bottom Pins?

I'm in a bit of a bind with my scroll saw because I have several blades with broken bottom pins. I haven't used them much, but I need to get some projects done quickly to sell them. Sometimes when they break, I manage to thread a strong thin wire through the hole, and that holds up for a while, but that doesn't always work. Is there a way to make these blades fit without the bottom pins?

For some saws, you can find or even make pinless blade clamps. If you break off the remaining pin and file it down smooth, you can clamp the blade without the pins. Honestly, if it’s a cheaper saw, it might be better to invest in a pinless model. They tend to handle smaller holes and you don’t have to worry about broken pins.

If you're already using wire, why not drill a hole through the blades? Just make sure to get a very small drill bit. I had one, but I accidentally broke it under pressure—like cooking spaghetti that's gone too soft! It’s a bit tricky, so watch the drilling.

You could try using a welder! My brother-in-law gave me one, and it’s great for all sorts of fixes. Just be careful with the heat and make sure to secure the blade properly before attempting any welding.
