How Can I Use Peel and Stick Wallpaper Without Damaging My Rental Walls?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on a DIY project for my apartment. I'd love to add some color and create a statement wall, but since I'm not allowed to paint, I was thinking of using peel and stick wallpaper. However, in my last apartment, I had issues with damage when I removed it. Thankfully, I could easily fix it, but my current walls are slightly textured and not painted white, making repairs trickier. I'm trying to find ways to apply the wallpaper without actually sticking it to the walls, as I want to ensure I keep my security deposit. I've heard about hacks involving painter's tape or using command strips with poster board as a base for the wallpaper. I'm worried about damage from leaving tape on, and I'm also on a budget. Any suggestions?

Why not just go for some fun artwork? It can really liven up a space without the risks that come with wallpaper, and you can always swap it out for something new whenever you want! Plus, art can be budget-friendly, especially if you make some yourself!

Instead of going through the hassle of sticky wallpaper, why not try a large tapestry or wall hanging? They can make a big statement and you won't have to worry about damaging your walls! Plus, you can switch it up whenever you want without any permanent alterations.
