How Can We Soundproof My Wife’s Home Office?

My wife works from home and has been struggling with noise coming from the rest of the house. With a toddler around, it's tough to keep things quiet for her long 10-hour workdays. I'm looking for effective ways to minimize the noise within our home or soundproof her office. Any suggestions?

Check your office door! Most interior doors are hollow, which lets sound sneak in and out. Swapping out for a solid door can help. Don't forget to add weather stripping around the door frame and a rolled-up towel at the bottom. Those tweaks can really cut down on noise transmission.

I feel you! I’ve got a home office too and some days are louder than others. A simple and effective solution? Invest in a pair of really good noise-canceling headphones! They can work wonders during those work hours.

Soundproofing can get pretty pricey, depending on how quiet you want things. Sounds travel in two main ways: through the air and via vibrations. Airborne noise is easier to manage; you just need to create good sound-diffusing barriers. But vibrations can be tricky, especially in older houses. Look for loose nails, rattling vents, or any other culprits causing noise. A great resource is the YouTube channel HomeRenovision where you can find lots of simple DIY soundproofing tips.
