I'm setting up my office to host occasional guests and trying to decide on a suitable bed option. We've previously used a Murphy bed, but I'm looking for a more budget-friendly and portable alternative since my office will eventually transition into a bedroom for one of our kids. I'm considering a cabinet bed like this one: [https://archicfurniture.com/products/murphy-cube-cabinet-bed/](https://archicfurniture.com/products/murphy-cube-cabinet-bed/). My main concern is comfort, especially since it'll mainly be used by my parents, who are in their 70s. I'm pondering whether a trifold memory foam mattress would be comfy enough for them and whether adding a second mattress and a quality topper might help. Also, the office is on the first floor, which is great since it means they won't have to deal with stairs when they visit.

I haven’t tried one specific model, but memory foam generally works well for this kind of setup. It’s quite comfortable! I find solid memory foam can get pretty warm, but the comfort level is definitely better than what most people have experienced on old couch beds. I think it’ll be a solid choice for your parents!
The comfort really does depend on the mattress quality. Different brands use various types, so it’s hard to gauge. We have a 6-inch one, which is okay, but my mom didn’t find it comfortable without a memory foam topper. The model you’re looking at appears nice and has lower sides, unlike mine, which can feel kind of claustrophobic. If your parents are a bit uneasy, a topper might be essential.
Latex foam is a great option too! My 82-year-old mom finds it way more comfortable than memory foam, as she had some trouble getting out of a deep indentation that memory foam leaves. You might want to explore that option if you're worried about comfort.
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into latex foam, especially since I want the bed to be as comfortable as possible for my parents.

I appreciate the insight! I'll make sure to get a topper, just in case. It's good to know about the height and sides too.
