Hey folks, I recently bought a house that had some rooms added on prior to my purchase. Currently, there are three rooms in total: one already has a ductless AC unit, but the other two are incredibly hot, especially living in Florida. I'm curious about the difficulty of installing ductless AC systems in the two hotter rooms. These rooms measure between 100 and 200 square feet and have concrete walls facing outside. I want to make sure I'm making the right investment, so I would appreciate insights on the typical costs and whether installing through concrete is a major undertaking. I expect I'll need two units since the rooms are quite a distance apart with no connection options. Thanks for any recommendations!

I recommend looking into a 2-port mini-split system! Mine is a 4-port, and while it was a bit pricey upfront, the energy savings are significant, especially in hot areas. Just keep an eye on the amps that it uses; more efficient models are worth the investment!
If you're thinking about DIY, expect to spend between $1,200 to $2,000 per unit, and you’ll need the right tools like a vacuum pump, gauge manifold, and wall drill. Don't underestimate the effort; it's likely to take a full afternoon. If you opt for a professional install, budget at least $2,000 per unit, and if access is tricky, it could push to $3,000.
I helped a relative with a Mr. Cool system. The installation was straightforward since the lines were pre-vacuumed. It took about two days: one for drilling and installing the indoor units, and another for the outdoor ones and refrigerant lines.

Just to clarify, since your rooms are separate, I wouldn't recommend a multi-port unit. You'll need separate units for each room.
