How Difficult Is It to Replace Shower Fixtures?

I'm a moderately handy DIYer and recently replaced my bathroom sink fixtures, which took longer than I expected but I was pleased with the outcome. Now, I want to tackle my shower fixtures, but I've run into a bit of a hitch. I noticed that the copper pipe for the faucet is a couple of inches longer than needed for the new faucet. Before I go ahead and cut it, I'm wondering how challenging it really is to swap out all the shower fixtures. Thankfully, I do have an access door, which should help. Any tips or experiences?

I totally get it! The existing pipe fitting the old faucet might mean you need to trim it down for the new one. Just be cautious! Make sure to check for any corrosion and prepare yourself for a bit of elbow grease—you never know what you might encounter behind the wall. If you’ve replaced sink fixtures before, you’re probably more than capable of handling this! Just take your time.

Changing the shower fixtures can be a breeze or a total headache, depending on how corroded everything is. If you're just looking to change the color and not the entire setup, it should be straightforward. Just make sure you have all your replacement parts on hand before you start. Nothing worse than getting halfway through and realizing you don’t have a matching overflow plate! Get your ducks in a row first, and it should go smoothly.
