How Do I Adjust and Align My DIY Drill Press Correctly?

I'm trying to figure out how to properly align my drill bit on a DIY drill press. In the video at 22:35, there's an explanation about making adjustments, but I'm not clear on how these adjustments actually impact the alignment of the drill bit. Can anyone explain this to me?

When he tightens the bolt in the metal bracket, it secures the drill at the adjusted angle you’ve set with the shim. This should keep the drill stable during use. Just double-check after tightening because any slight movement can affect the alignment.

It sounds like the drill press is tilted, which means the drill isn’t going straight down. By adding a shim under the platform where the drill mounts, you can adjust the angle of the platform to get it aligned properly. However, be aware that getting it just right can be tricky, and it might take some tweaking. Depending on what you’re drilling, it doesn’t always have to be spot-on—sometimes a little off isn't a big deal. Just keep in mind that if you remove the drill or change to a different one, you'll likely have to reset the alignment again.
