I'm pretty new to plant care and recently adopted a heart-shaped leaf philodendron. I've heard that they might be a bit fussier than pothos, but I can't find clear information on how to care for them—most articles focus on their biological differences instead. I've struggled with some unspoken advice in the past while caring for my pothos, but I've managed to help it thrive. Now that I'm giving my philo similar treatment, I'm worried because parts of it are wilting and the new leaves are coming in quite small. What specific care tips should I follow to make sure my philodendron stays healthy?

For my heart-leaf philodendron, I use a chunky soil mix—like one part cactus mix, one part perlite, and some orchid bark. They really hate being overwatered, so make sure you're not giving too much water. Also, place it in bright, indirect light! You can train it on a trellis or let it trail, and propagating is easy—just cut between the nodes and expose them to water to grow roots.
I treat both pothos and philodendron the same way, and honestly, they both grow super fast for me! I don’t think they’re that different once you get the hang of it. I have multiple types of each, and with plenty of sunlight, they thrive!
Philodendrons need more light than pothos to avoid becoming leggy. Just keep that in mind! But besides that, their care routines are quite similar. You should be good as long as you meet their light needs!

I totally agree! They’re both pretty low maintenance if you give them enough light.
