Hey everyone! My dryer seems to take forever to dry clothes, which I suspect is because of the clogged dryer vent. It's starting to increase my electric bill too! I'm on a tight budget and can't afford a professional, so I'm thinking about cleaning it myself. Can anyone explain the easiest way to clean out a dryer vent, like you would to a 5 year old? I'd really appreciate it!

I bought this handy brush that attaches to my drill! You just run it in reverse and slide it up the vent with extension pieces. It only cost around $20 and it works great!
Definitely clean the vent ducting. You can find tons of cleaning videos on YouTube that show you how to do this. And remember to clean the inside of the dryer as well! There’s likely a lot of lint stuck in there. Just be careful of the sharp metal edges and make sure it's unplugged while you work.
Here’s a super simple method: Start by pulling your dryer away from the wall and disconnecting the vent. Then, if you have one, grab a leaf blower and stick it into the vent opening. Turn it on, and let it blow all the gunk out! You'll know you're done when you stop seeing debris flying out.
That's exactly what I do! Also, don't forget about cleaning the inside of your dryer. You can use a vacuum attachment for that—it costs less than $10!
