How Do I Connect a Duct to My Roof Air Vent?

I've got a roof air vent above my kitchen, and I want to use it for venting my stove. However, I'm not sure how to connect a new duct to it effectively. I'd prefer not to remove the existing vent if I can avoid it, but I'm open to doing so if it's necessary. My main concern is managing any condensation that might drip down.

From what you've described, it seems like the bottom lacks any sort of collar to attach the duct directly. You’ll need to check the vent closely for any hidden mechanisms, or you might have to remove it to install the right connector. It's not a huge deal, but be cautious about condensation when messing with it!

It sounds like you're missing a duct collar, which is the connector piece you need. You should look for a DC4 roof vent cap duct collar. It typically has a quarter-turn screw that will help secure it into your vent. That should make it easier to attach your new duct without taking everything apart.
