Hey everyone, I'm looking for some guidance on how to determine the angle for installing crown molding. I've never done it before but I do have some tools and basic skills. I know that crown molding requires multiple angles, and while I can measure angles for other projects using a speed square or angle finder, I can't really use those tools with the molding already installed. Here's a link to the image for reference: https://imgur.com/a/ycXVHxI. Any tips would be appreciated!

Just set your miter saw to a 45° angle and place the crown molding in there just like how it’ll sit on the wall. Cut the left side at 45°, fit it to the angle of the installed piece, and then mark where you need to cut to get the right length.
Forget the speed square for this! First, you should see where the crown molding rests against the wall—basically, how far down it sits. When you cut the molding on your miter saw, make sure to flip it upside down, and mark your measurements on the saw's fence from the base up. Cut it at a 45-degree angle, and you'll be all set!

Thanks for the reminder! I keep forgetting that little detail about upside down—definitely helps to keep it all straight!
